Norwich City manager Daniel Farke has told the club’s official website that Scottish international outcast Steven Naismith is not close to a move away from Carrow Road.
Naismith has said that he would play for free if it meant that he could return to his former club Rangers in the January window and looks set to leave the Canaries before the 31 January.
Farke revealed that there is no pressure to come to a decision and that he expects the situation to be resolved but it was perhaps surprising to hear that the Scottish former Everton forward is not close to the exit door at this stage.
He said: “Steven Naismith is searching for a new challenge. It’s not close, but I expect there will be a decision. There is no pressure.”
I would be staggered if Steven Naismith is still a Norwich player by the end of the transfer window.
However, I am also surprised that a protracted move is not further down the line than it is now. Farke can play the situation down but when a player wants to leave and in the second half of the window he is not even close to a move, something isn’t running smoothly.
