Norwich City are interested in signing Lorient striker Alexis Claude-Maurice as they look to boost their attacking options ahead of their return to the Premier League next season.
The 20-year-old has scored 14 goals in 34 league appearances for Lorient this season, helping the club to sixth place in the French second tier, outside the play-off places only on goal difference with one game of the season remaining.
According to France Football, The Canaries are set to target Claude-Maurice in the summer transfer window, as they look to take some of the goalscoring pressure off Championship Golden Boot winner Teemu Pukki ahead of his debut season in the Premier League.
It seems however that it may not be an easy deal for Norwich, with Europa League semi-finalists Eintracht Frankfurt and second-placed Ligue 1 side Lille both also thought to be interested in the attacker.
It is claimed that Lorient value the 20-year-old, who has two seasons left on his contract with the club, at around £8.5million.
This may be a difficult signing for Norwich to pull off.
Both Frankfurt and Lille are likely to be able to offer Claude-Maurice European football, while the attacker’s price tag means he would take a huge chunk out of Norwich’s budget.
The confidence boost it could give them if they were to make this deal happen, however, could be hugely significant, as could Claude-Maurice’s contributions on the pitch.
