Norwich City's Ben Marshall is readying at exit from Carrow Road, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

It is a development which is bound to catch the attention of a number of Championship clubs, and Nixon claims Hull City are one such party taking an interest.

The winger still has three years remaining on his contract so it could be difficult for Norwich to offload him on a permanent basis, as the player would likely be unwilling to take a pay cut.

The concern for Norwich is that he fell out of first-team plans last season - going on loan to Millwall - and therefore there will be no place for him in a Premier League side.

That means it is very likely he could depart on loan once again, which would make him a much more affordable proposition to several Championship clubs.

Hull are one club working on a tight budget, and having already added winger Josh Bowler could do with another body to provide competition for places alongside Kamil Grosicki, who could also depart this summer.

The Verdict

Ben Marshall has been a very effective winger in the Championship for several years now but is beginning to lose that bit of pace and inventiveness which made him so accomplished.

Last season was a year to forget from his perspective and he needs to join a club where he will play often and be one of the team's most important players.

Hull would provide him with that opportunity and if he can settle at the club then he should rediscover his form and act as an influential figure for the club.
