Championship champions Norwich City are set to target West Brom midfielder Rekeem Harper in the summer transfer window, it has been reported.

The 19-year-old has established himself as a regular part of The Baggies midfield in the second half of the season, with all but one of his Championship appearances in the current campaign coming since the turn of the year.

Those commanding performances have impressed many, including it seems Premier League bound Norwich, who according to The Sun (print edition, 10th May, page 57), are considering a bid for the midfielder.

Harper recently notched his first ever senior goal, scoring the winner as West Brom came from a goal down to beat Rotherham 2-1 on the penultimate weekend of the season, a result that confirmed The Millers' relegation to League One.

The midfielder is out of contract at The Hawthorns at the end of June, meaning the midfielder could soon be available to Norwich on a free transfer, though he may first be focusing on the play-offs with West Brom, who visit local rivals Aston Villa in the first leg of their semi final on Saturday afternoon.

The Verdict

What a rise this is for Harper.

It was only during the first half of last season that the midfielder was struggling for game time, and now he is being linked with a move to the Premier League.

This would be a big loss for West Brom, not just in terms of what he offers now but also with what he could do the future, given that at 19, Harper still has plenty of time to develop his game.
