Norwich City to listen to offers for influential midfielder

Norwich City will let Jonny Howson leave Carrow Road this summer, with Leeds United and Burnley reportedly interested in securing his signature, reports the Eastern Daily Press

Howson, 29, has refused to commit his long-term future to the Canaries, and Norwich are now willing to listen to offers for the midfielder, who has been with the club since 2012.

Despite Howson’s refusal to sign a new contract, Norwich are in a strong position to demand a hefty transfer-fee for the midfielder, whose contract at Carrow Road runs until the end of the 2018/19 season.

The 29-year old is looking for a move back to the north, which has alerted Burnley and Howson’s former club, Leeds.

Leeds were linked with a £4m move to take Howson back to Elland Road last month, but it is believed that Norwich will demand a much higher transfer-fee for the midfielder, who has made 188 appearances for the Canaries.

The majority of those appearances for Norwich have come in the Premier League, but Howson was also part of the squad that achieved promotion from the Championship during the 2014/15 season.
