According to The Sun, Norwich City could release Steven Naismith from his contract and make him available for a free transfer this summer.

Norwich City are currently in the middle of a major squad revamp and the operation is well underway.

Yesterday, the Canaries wielded the axe on a number of high profile players, releasing Seb Bassong, Michael Turner, John Ruddy, Kyle Lafferty, Steven Whittaker, Ryan Bennett and Youssouf Mulumbu.

Now the major summer exodus could continue with the departure of Steven Naismith just sixteen months after they splashed £8.5m on the former Everton striker.

The Scotland international has been criticised by some Norwich fans for his poor displays this season and new Sporting Director Stuart Webber is losing patience.

Able to play as a winger, central attacking midfielder and a striker, the 30-year-old could be released to free up some wage space.

The Sun believes that Naismith earns £50,000 per week.
