Sky Bet Championship side Norwich City have denied claims that star striker Gary Hooper has submitted a formal transfer request to the club according to Sky Sports.
Norwich were recently relegated from the Premier League and during this past season Hooper was able to score six goals in 32 league games.
He signed for the Canaries at the start of the season for around £5.8 million from SPFL side Celtic and it has been reported that following the club’s relegation he has submitted a formal transfer request.
It is believed that this has occurred following an array of teams showing interest in the 26-year old striker. The teams include – Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, QPR and his former club Celtic.
However, manager Neil Adams has strongly rubbished these claims telling the Pink ‘Un, “There’s been no transfer request from Gary Hooper.
“I spoke to him two days ago and told him he’s one of the players we need to keep. He can score goals, Gary Hooper can. He will be a big part of the squad, along with many, many others.
“So I understand – there’s bound to be this sort of speculation and rumour, and somebody can make a throwaway comment that suddenly becomes national news.
“But Gary Hooper has not handed in a transfer request and I’ve told him I need him here to hopefully be part of pushing this team back into the Premier League, and he was happy with that.”
