Norwich City are said to be interested in signing HNK Rijeka goalkeeper, Simon Sluga according to Goal.

The shot-stopper has one year remaining on his current deal with the Croatian side, which has seen interest in his services heightened in recent weeks.

Norwich will be preparing for life in the Premier League next season, and they have seemingly identified a goalkeeper as one of their main priorities in the summer transfer window.

Derby County and German side, Hertha Berlin are also keeping tabs of Sluga's progress ahead of a potential summer move.

The 26-year-old could be available for as little as £1.8m, which will certainly be a tempting price to pay for any of the teams interested in signing him.

Sluga has recently been called up to the Croatia national side, and will be keen to build on some impressive performances for Rijeka.

Norwich's interest in Sluga won't come as a surprise, as they need stronger options between the sticks, with Daniel Farke's side conceding 57 goals in their 46 league games this season as they won promotion back into the Premier League.

But it remains to be seen who they will sign up ahead of next year's campaign, with the Canaries also recently being linked with a move for Liverpool goalkeeper, Simon Mignolet according to the Daily Mail (19th May, page 55).

The Verdict:

It would solve a problem position for the Canaries next season.

I'm not convinced that Tim Krul is the best option to have for them in the Premier League next season, and they at least need another goalkeeper of quality to be pushing him for a start in the top-flight.

This could prove to be a smart bit of business by Daniel Farke.
