Jordan Rhodes has a minor ligament injury in his ankle, but will be available for Norwich City at the start of the Sky Bet Championship season.

Daniel Farke has provided an update on Rhodes to Norwich’s official website, confirming that Rhodes’ injury is not serious and although he will miss the weekend’s pre-season fixture, he should be back in contention to face Birmingham City.

The German said: “It’s some good news with Jordan as the scan has confirmed only a minor ligament injury in his ankle.

“He will miss the game against Charlton on Saturday but should be ok to join training next week and hopefully be available for the Birmingham game.”

Rhodes picked up the injury in Norwich’s 3-1 victory over Luton Town on Wednesday, leaving the Carrow Road faithful waiting nervously to discover the extent of the injury.

The 28-year-old striker has arrived at Norwich on a season-long loan from Sheffield Wednesday, after an underwhelming 18 months at Hillsborough.

During his time in South Yorkshire, Rhodes has scored just 10 goals across all competitions, with just eight of those coming in the Championship.

Prior to his spell at Hillsborough, Rhodes was prolific during his time with Huddersfield Town, Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough.

The Verdict

Rhodes is one of Norwich’s marquee signings this summer, with Farke hoping that the striker can rediscover his best at Carrow Road this season.

His injury scare was worrying, but it is encouraging to hear that Rhodes will be available at the start of the season.

The 28-year-old will be key, and getting him back to his best will be one of Farke’s aims heading into the new season.
