Norwich City have been dealt a disappointing blow, with Grant Hanley set to miss six weeks with a quadriceps injury.

Hanley is Norwich’s captain and has played a crucial role at Carrow Road since joining the club from Newcastle United last summer.

So far this season the 26-year-old has featured in all six of Norwich’s fixtures, scoring once in the 4-3 defeat to West Bromwich Albion.

Now, the Canaries have made an announcement on their official social media, confirming that Hanley is set for six weeks on the sidelines with a quadriceps injury.

Daniel Farke will now be missing his captain for a run of fixtures that will see Norwich face Middlesbrough, Reading, QPR, Wigan, Derby and Stoke City.

It’s been a tough start to the season for the Canaries, who heading out of the international break hover just above the relegation zone.

Farke’s side have picked up just five points from the 18 that have been available to them this season, with Norwich suffering three defeats in six fixtures.

Their only league victory of the season came against Preston North End, but the Canaries have progressed to the third-round of the League Cup.

The Verdict

This is a real blow for Norwich, as Hanley is so important to the Canaries.

The defender is Farke’s captain and best defender, with the next run of fixtures now looking very difficult for Norwich.

The Canaries could do with Hanley back in the fold before long.
