Sky Bet Championship title winners Norwich City are keen on signing Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes on a permanent basis this summer, according to reports from the Sun on Sunday (19/05, page 63).

The 29-year old spent the whole of last season on loan with the Canaries, as Daniel Farke's side steamrolled to the league title after a remarkable season.

The experienced forward found it hard to make a compelling impact at Carrow Road, falling behind Championship Player of the Year Teemu Pukki in the pecking order, but still managed to find the net nine times in all competitions, with six of those strikes coming in the league.

Now, reports from the Sun claim that Norwich are keen to re-sign Rhodes from Sheffield Wednesday, this time on a permanent basis rather than on another season-long loan deal.

Rhodes endured a difficult time at Hillsborough since signing from Middlesbrough, scoring just 10 goals in a total of over 50 games for the Owls since his reported £10million switch.

Wednesday received a six-figure fee from Norwich after winning promotion to the Premier League, though it remains to be seen how much the Yorkshire club receives for Rhodes this summer, after spending a lot on him a couple of years ago.

The Verdict

I think Norwich can definitely do better than Rhodes this summer.

He has hardly put a foot wrong for Norwich since signing from Wednesday, but he hasn't really proved that he can cut it in the Premier League.

There are surely better, younger options out there for Farke's side.
