Norwich City defender Ben Gibson has stated that the last two years of his life have been the hardest of his life.

The ex-Burnley player has had a long spell out of playing and will have been delighted to have made his first appearance for Norwich after joining the club.

The Canaries will hope that he can rekindle the form he showed during previous stints in the Championship, and that could push him on to help Norwich in their quest for a return to the top-flight.

Gibson has expressed that it is irrelevant how much you get paid playing football if you're not in the starting team and has explained that the last two years have been the hardest of his whole life.

Speaking to Pink Un, Gibson said:"It’s been the hardest two years of my life. For other people that will sound ridiculous, footballers get paid a great wage, that’s what people say. It’s all irrelevant if you’re not playing."

The Verdict

Norwich have had an interesting start to the season, but it really is great to see Gibson back in the side and playing after what has been a very long period of his career where he hasn't been able to play regularly.

At the Canaries, Gibson has a base where he can come in and try and improve their defence ahead of what is a big season for the club as they aim to bounce back from their relegation.

Gibson has to try and make sure he keeps his consistency levels right, but it has been good to see him back in the side and playing on a regular basis.
