Norwich City full-back Dimitris Giannoulis says that winger Christos Tzolis can help the club win promotion from the Championship.

Tzolis joined the Canaries back in the summer of 2021, arriving from PAOK in his native Greece for a reported £8.8million.

However, he endured a difficult debut campaign at Carrow Road, making 17 appearances for the club and scoring two goals - both in the League Cup - as Norwich were relegated from the Premier League.

As a result, Tzolis was loaned out to Dutch side FC Twente at the start of this season, only to be recalled by new Norwich boss David Wagner last month.

The 21-year-old then made his first Norwich appearance of the season as a substitute in their 3-0 defeat to Burnley on Saturday.

Now it seems as though Giannoulis believes that the winger could still have a big part to play in the club's push for a return to the Premier League this season.

Speaking to BBC Sport about Tzolis' return to Norwich, Giannoulis said: "He's a good friend of mine. I'm really happy for him and he will help the team get promoted. It's a big chance for him. He's been great in training."

Norwich are currently tenth in the Championship table, two points adrift of the play-off places.

The Verdict

This is an interesting one to consider from a Norwich City perspective.

On the one hand, a return of three goals in 15 appearances in all competitions for Tzolis during his time with Twente earlier this season, is not exactly the most inspiring.

However, that change of environment may well have done him good even so, and the reset that has provided him with may now put him in a better mindset to make an impact at Carrow Road.

Indeed, having him around does at least give David Wagner another option to turn to over the rest of the season, meaning there is still a chance that Tzolis could prove to be an asset in the next few months.
