Norwich City are getting plans in motion for their Premier League return after Daniel Farke's side secured automatic promotion from the Championship.

The Canaries clinched the second-tier title on the final day of the season with a 2-1 win at Aston Villa, and Farke will now assess his squad over the summer as they make the leap to the top-flight.

A number of players are expected to depart Carrow Road this summer, and one of their strikers has now suggested he will not be returning to the club from his loan spell.

Steve Naismith has spent the season on loan at Scottish Premier League side Hearts and he has agreed a deal to convert his temporary switch into a permanent arrangement this summer, according to the Scotsman.

The striker has bagged 14 goals in 27 appearances during his second spell at the club, and he now looks set to remain at the club following the expiration of his Carrow Road contract this summer.

“To be honest, we’re there. It’s literally just the official side of things that needs to be crossed and dotted, if you like," he told the Scotsman.

The 32-year-old joined Norwich in January 2016, but he has only made 48 appearances for the club in that time as he never seemed to be a part of Farke's plans.

The Verdict

This is the right move for both parties.

Naismith would not get much of an opportunity under Farke next season, as Pukki is undoubtedly the club's first-choice striker and the Norwich boss will probably be looking to recruit strikers of a higher pedigree than Naismith.

He has also suffered from injuries of late, so he is better off remaining in Scotland for his recovery before then leading the Hearts' line again next term.
