A return to the Premier League is the expectation at Norwich City this summer, and new boss Daniel Farke is steeped in pressure as he looks to elevate the Canaries back to the top flight in his debut season in English football.

The German boss is slowly putting together a side he feels is capable of challenging for a place in the top two, and the latest man to be identified as a worthy addition to the squad is Chelsea youngster, Jake Clarke-Salter.

The full back spent last season on loan in League One with Bristol Rovers, but injury continually disrupted his campaign with the Pirates.

Finding fitness in the summer, the player appeared in four of the seven games as England U20’s lifted the country’s first global tournament trophy lifted 1966, and the youngster will look to the new year with the hope of impressing Chelsea manager Antonio Conte and potentially earning a place in his squad in future seasons.

This may seem a tall order and it certainly will be, but a solid season on loan with a club competing for the Championship title should surely put Clarke-Salter in an excellent position.

The 19-year-old would add depth to a Norwich back line that has seen a number of departures this summer, and bringing the Chelsea youth product to East Anglia would provide a solid short term fix to their problem.

Clarke-Salter is likely to jump at a loan to Norwich having played in League One last season, and time will tell whether the young defender can adapt to the demands of second tier football.

Can Clarke-Salter contribute to your promotion challenge, Norwich fans?
