Norwich City midfielder Adam Phillips is heading to Scotland on loan, HITC Sport reports.

Phillips is set to join Scottish Premiership side Hamilton Academical on a season long loan deal to further his development.

The 20-year-old central midfielder joined Norwich from Liverpool in 2017 but he is yet to make his senior bow for the Canaries.

Last season, he was sent out on loan to Cambridge United in the second half of the campaign but he only managed four appearances there.

A host of clubs were hoping to sign the former England under-17 international on loan but Hamilton appear to have won the race.

Norwich have already sent young attacker Mason Bloomfield to Hamilton and Phillips is now set to follow him.

A regular for the under-23s, Phillips will be hoping to impress to stake a claim for the first-team.

The Verdict

This is a good move for Phillips and Norwich as he will return with some game time under his belt.

With first-team opportunities looking slim at Carrow Road, this is a sensible move.

Norwich and Hamilton clearly have a good relationship and the Canaries will be hoping that their best young players can develop with regular playing time in a competitive league.
