The experienced 32-year-old could potentially achieve his third promotion in four seasons after enjoying promotion with West Ham United and most recently Queens Park Rangers, in last year's play off final which ended in a 1-0 victory for the R's despite O'Neil's second half sending off.

Hoping his promotion luck can continue, O'Neil told Norwich City's official site his fellow teammates will be fully prepared for the huge occasion at Wembley, with Premier League experience playing a vital role if they are to be successful.

''The lads have been involved in big games before so we’ll make sure we’re ready and fully prepared. Once you’ve been involved in Premier League matches, this isn’t massively different.'' The experienced holding midfielder also believes his play off final experiences can assist his team mates considerably.

''I think I prepared better for the second one, definitely, having already experienced the first one. I’ll try to pass that on to a few of the boys.''

At 32, O'Neil has never lost a play off final at Wembley and is hoping he can be a part of another memorable day of winning promotion to the Premier League. ''I’ve never lost when I’ve played there, and I imagine it’s not great to go home as a loser. Hopefully I won’t find out.''

O'Neil will come up against his former side Middlesbrough on Monday, a team he made 109 appearances for, and has total respect for the his old club and knows what test they will provide him and his team. ''They’ve had a good season, and are a good side who are strong defensively. They don’t score many goals but have beaten us twice this year, so hopefully it’s our turn.''

The former Portsmouth man expects a ''fantastic atmosphere'' inside Wembley on Monday and the mouth watering tie is sure to be a fantastic one with two of the most consistent teams going head to head for a place in the Premier League.
