Norwich City man issues cryptic response on his future amid exit rumours

Norwich City striker Nelson Oliveira has admitted that he does not know what the future holds for him amid speculation that he is set to leave the club this summer.

In an interview with Portuguese media outlet A Bola via Sport Witness, Oliveira revealed that news will come about next season but he does not know where he will be playing.

Norwich are reportedly willing to sell Oliveira this summer to generate funds for new players, such as Jordan Rhodes.

Oliveira told A Bola (as translated by Sport Witness): “As for my career, rest assured: the next season will bring news. I don’t know what’s coming, I can’t talk about proposals.”

The 26-year-old scored eight goals and contributed with three assists this season in 40 games for the Canaries, to add to his tally of 12 in 29 from the year before.

But now the 17-cap Portugal international could be on his way out of the club.

The former Swansea City and Nottingham Forest loanee also mentioned that he wants to play Premier League football.

He added: “We’ll get there! I still have time, I have matured enough, and I feel more prepared to respond to what people expect of me. Those who are suspicious of my quality, I will have the opportunity to surprise and prove them wrong. That’s what I work for.”

The Verdict

Oliveira is not good enough for the Premier League yet.

He blows hot and cold for Norwich and they would be wise to let him go at the right price because there are better options out there.

The Portuguese forward is only offering around 10 league goals each season, which is not a return which will lead Norwich to the top flight.
