Norwich City interim manager Alan Irvine still believes that the club have a chance of making the play-offs but has acknowledged that it will be difficult, according to a report by the Eastern Daily Press.

Norwich City currently sit in 8th place and they are separated from the play-off zone by five points.

However, of their eight remaining games, Norwich must face four difficult away trips.

This starts with a trip to Villa Park to take on an Aston Villa side who have won 5 in their last 6.

They then have to travel to Huddersfield (3rd), Leeds (4th) and Preston (9th - level on points with Norwich), as well as tricky home ties against Reading (5th), Fulham (7th) and Brighton (2nd).

They then close the season with a home tie against rejuvenated Queens Park Rangers.

Irvine knows that Norwich's promotion hopes are reliant on others slipping up but he still reserved some optimism.

Irvine said:

"We have a really big task to get in the play-offs.

"We need other teams to slip up, we know that.

“We have 24 points to play for.

"Look at every single one of those games in isolation and we feel if we perform well in every one of those we have a chance to win each of them.

"I am not suggesting for a moment we will win every one but we are capable of picking up a good number of points.

"While there is a chance of getting in the play-offs we have to have a go, albeit it is extremely difficult.”
