According to BBC Sport, Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill has told BBC Radio Northern Ireland that he has had no contact with Norwich City over their vacant managerial post.

This is contrary to reports by BBC Radio Norfolk earlier in the week suggesting that informal discussions had taken place between Norwich City and Michael O'Neill over the manager's job.

Norwich City have been searching for a new manager after parting ways with Alex Neil in March.

Alan Irvine has been the caretaker manager since then as Norwich have undergone a behind-the-scenes restructuring, including appointing Huddersfield's Stuart Webber in a new Sporting Director role.

One of Webber's first jobs is to unveil a new manager and Michael O'Neill emerged as a front runner earlier this week.

However, the Northern Ireland manager has ruled himself out of the running, claiming that it is not a job that he was interested in and that he didn't fit the bill.

O'Neill said:

"There has been no contact between myself and Norwich City.

"Realistically, it's probably not what I would be looking for at this minute in time.

"I think the club are probably in the market for a head coach.

"I'm a manager.

"I've managed my country for the last five years and I intend to manage my country going forward.

"Any approach would have to be made through the Irish FA and it is my understanding that has not happened."
