Norwich City are closing in on promotion and that means that plans are being put in place for a big summer in the transfer market.

The Canaries are keen to improve on last season's performances in the Premier League and that means increasing the level of quality in Daniel Farke's squad as they look to give it another crack.

According to reports, they may have found the man to do just that.

Norwich are keen on a move for Giorgos Giakoumakis, according to reports from Teamtalk.

The Greek striker is currently playing for Dutch side VVV Venlo in the Eredivisie and has enjoyed a cracking season after scoring a staggering 27 goals in 29 appearances for the club.

What's more impressive is that the 24 goals that he's scored in the league have come from just 38 shots.

At 26 years of age Giakoumakis is approaching his prime years and after a stunning season in Holland it's claimed that he could be being lined up for a move to the Premier League with the Canaries.

If Norwich are to get a deal done it's reported that they'll face competition from Southampton, Brighton and a number of top clubs in the Dutch Eredivisie.

The verdict

What a great signing this would be.

Norwich City have a good squad as it stands but surely the addition of a player with a good a scoring record as this has to be seen as a shrewd addition.

It's important that the Canaries are stronger next term and a move for Giakoumakis would certainly help with that.
