Championship side Norwich City have joined the race for Barnsley's prolific Championship striker Sam Winnall, according to BBC Radio Sheffield Journalist Jonathan Buchan.

As Sam Winnall is entering the final six months of his contract at Oakwell, the prolific striker is valued at a cut-price figure of £500,000, which for a player of his quality has attracted the attention of a number of Championship sides.

Carlos Carvalhal and Sheffield Wednesday emerged as the favourites to secure Sam Winnall's signature, as they looked to persuade the 25-year-old to switch South Yorkshire allegiances to the Owls.

However, Alex Neil's Norwich City have also joined the race as they attempt to persuade Sam Winnall to move to the East Anglia club rather than remaining in Yorkshire.

The deciding factor between Norwich City and Sheffield Wednesday could be which side offers Sam Winnall the more enticing wage package.

As it looks almost certain that Sam Winnall will depart from Oakwell in this window, it's just a matter of where he will go next rather than if.
