Norwich City are keen for Alan Irvine to remain at Carrow Road, despite overlooking him when appointing a new manager this summer, reports the Scottish Sun.

Following Alex Neil’s departure from Carrow Road earlier this year, Irvine was placed in temporary charge at Norwich, overseeing the final ten fixtures of the Sky Bet Championship season.

Despite collecting 17 points from a possible 30, and putting in some impressive displays under Irvine, most notably a 7-1 victory over Reading, the Canaries overlooked the 58-year old and opted to appoint Daniel Farke to replace Neil.

Alongside Farke, Norwich also brought in Edmund Riemer, who had been the 40-year old’s assistant at Borussia Dortmund II, as the Canaries look to replicate Huddersfield Town’s German model, after they achieved promotion under David Wagner last season.

Despite appointing a new manager and assistant ahead of Irvine, Norwich are keen for the former Preston North End, West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield Wednesday boss to remain at Carrow Road in some capacity next season.

Irvine, who eventually led Norwich to an eighth-placed finish in the Championship last season, is expected to let the club know if he will remain at Carrow Road in the coming days.
