High-flying Norwich City have been dealt a double blow on the injury front, with Jamal Lewis and Emiliano Buendia both set for spells out.

The club confirmed the news on their Twitter account today, revealing that Northern Irish left-back Lewis is going to miss the next three games with a hamstring injury.

That will see the highly-rated youngster sit out Championship fixtures against Derby and Brentford over the next few days, as well as the Canaries FA Cup tie against Portsmouth at Carrow Road.

However, that update suggests he should be back for the huge clash against West Brom on 12 January.

But, it's not as good news for attacking midfielder Buendia.

The summer signing from Getafe has picked up a ligament injury but that is expected to keep him out for up to a month.

Therefore, Daniel Farke could be without the creative player for the next six games, which includes several tough games for the Yellows against Derby, West Brom, Birmingham and Sheffield United.

Farke's side are back in action tomorrow at home to the Rams where they will be hoping to close the three-point gap on leaders Leeds.

The Verdict

This is a big problem for Norwich as both players have been regulars this season and have made important contributions to what has been an outstanding campaign so far.

Yet, these things happen in football and the injuries present someone else with a chance to step up.

That's what Farke will be hoping happens as they prepare to take on Derby.
