Norwich City could be handed a boost ahead of Sunday’s East-Anglian Derby with Ipswich Town, with Steven Naismith and Ivo Pinto both returning to fitness, reports Eastern Daily Press.
Alex Neil’s side face Ipswich on Sunday, looking to bounce back from last weekend’s shock defeat to Burton Albion.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s clash, Neil confirmed Nelson Oliveira would be missing but Pinto had a chance of featuring, he told EDP:
“I don’t think Nelson will make it but we have possibly two of the other lads who will be available. Ivo has been able to do some work this week so that is good news.”
Pinto has not featured since the Canaries 5-1 demolition of Nottingham Forest, while Naismith has not featured this month, Neil seemed more confident the latter would play of part on Sunday, he continued:
“Steven is fine, he is okay, I am hopeful he will be fit for the game. I think Steven could be thrown back in, even though we know what this game is all about. He is certainly at his most peak level of fitness since he joined the club.
“He has been training for the majority of this week. He will be fit and ready if required.”
Neil is looking for a response from his players following last weekend’s defeat, which put a serious dent in Norwich’s Play-Off ambitions.
Norwich are currently eighth in the Sky Bet Championship, trailing Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday by seven-points, and are in a desperate bid to make the top-six by the end of the season.
