Angus Gunn has opened the door to a potential return to Norwich City in the future.

The 24-year-old spent the 2017-18 season on loan with the Canaries during his time as a Manchester City player.

After an impressive campaign at Carrow Road Gunn earned a permanent move to Southampton where he spent last term, before heading out on loan to Stoke City this time around.

Gunn is set to face Norwich City - his hometown club - on Tuesday next week and has said that he wouldn't rule out a return in the future.

Speaking of his time at Norwich City, Gunn told the Eastern Daily Press: "When I first signed, that was one of my targets, to play every league game.

"To actually achieve it with the gruelling fixture list that we had and a decent run in the League Cup, was pretty cool, getting to play some of the big teams.

“Looking back, the whole season just went so quickly and they say that time flies when you’re enjoying yourself, which obviously was an unbelievable feeling to play not just one game but the whole season.”

While Gunn is currently enjoying a loan spell at Stoke he refused to rule out a potential return to Carrow Road in the future.

He said: "At the moment I’m at Stoke, on loan from Southampton, it’s a great opportunity for me to try and get some more game time in the Championship this season and get back to that sort of rhythm where you’re playing week in, week out, and you’re getting that feel-good factor.

“When it’s stop-start it’s hard to do that and at the moment this is a great opportunity for me to do that. You can never tell the future and it’s obviously the club I grew up supporting, so sometimes, these things happen...”

The Verdict

Norwich City will be happy to see Angus Gunn this weekend.

A popular figure at Carrow Road, the hometown boy will always have a soft spot for the Canaries, even when playing against them next week.

Of course Daniel Farke's side know just how good he is and so they'll be hoping that he has a bad day at the office.
