Norwich City are facing a potential battle to keep Max Aarons this summer as the defender is currently attracting interest from Borussia Monchengladbach, Wolfsburg and Marseille.

According to Football Insider, the aforementioned trio have all enquired about signing Aarons this summer.

German sides Monchengladbach and Wolfsburg will both be aiming to reach new heights in the Bundesliga next season whilst French outfit Marseille are set to participate in the Champions League after finishing second in Ligue 1 earlier this year.

Aarons has established himself as a key player for Norwich since emerging from their youth academy and hasn't been short of transfer interest in recent seasons.

During the previous campaign, the right-back made 34 appearances in the Premier League as the Canaries were relegated from this division.

With Norwich set to face Cardiff City on July 30th, it would be somewhat of a shock if Aarons is not selected to feature in this fixture by manager Dean Smith.

The Canaries have already parted ways with a host of players ahead of their return to the Championship.

In terms of incomings, Norwich have managed to bolster their squad by securing the services of Isaac Hayden and Gabriel Sara.

Sara has joined the club on a permanent basis whilst Hayden has signed an initial loan deal at Carrow Road.

The Verdict

When you consider that Aarons is still only 22-years-old, he has plenty of time to become a classy operator at the highest level and thus it is hardly a surprise that he is once again attracting interest from elsewhere.

Whereas Norwich could secure a reasonable fee for the right-back this summer due to the fact that his deal runs until 2024, there is no guarantee that they will be able to draft in an adequate replacement between now and the end of the window.

During the club's most recent Championship campaign, Aarons managed to deliver the goods on a consistent basis at this level as he averaged a WhoScored match rating of 6.93 in the 45 appearances that he made for the Canaries.

Unless Monchengladbach, Marseille or Wolfsburg submit a huge offer for the defender, Norwich should keep Aarons at the club this summer.
