According to European media outlet, Blick, Timm Klose is on FC Basel’s radar this month, as the Swiss outfit plan for life without Manuel Akanji.
Akanji could be on the move this month, with West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton all interested in handing the defender a move to the Premier League, whilst Bundesliga clubs are also interested.
In the event of the 22-year-old leaving Basel this month, the Swiss club have identified Klose as a possible replacement, with 29-year-old Norwich City defender edging into the final 18 months of his contract at Carrow Road.
Klose’s contract with the Canaries runs until the summer of 2019.
The Swiss defender has made 66 appearances for Norwich during his two-year spell with the club, including featuring on 22 occasions across all competitions this season under Daniel Farke.
Klose has scored twice in those 22 appearances, and was part of the starting XI that held Chelsea to a goalless draw in the FA Cup third-round on Saturday evening.
Despite an encouraging display in the FA Cup last weekend, Norwich and Klose are struggling in the Championship’s play-off race, with the Canaries currently sat 13th in the table, nine points adrift of the top-six.
Norwich will not want to lose Klose this month, and with Basel reportedly lining him up as a replacement for Akanji, it will be a worry for the Canaries.
Klose is Swiss and a move back to Switzerland could appeal to the defender, which will add further worry to those at Carrow Road.
However, with 18 months remaining on his contract at Carrow Road, Norwich still hold a strong position.
