Norwich City boss issues honest statement following Arsenal draw

After their 3-1 success away to Brentford in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, Norwich were handed a trip to Arsenal in the last 16.

The Gunners unconvincingly overcame Doncaster Rovers last night and it will provide a great test for Daniel Farke’s improving team.

Speaking to the club’s official site, the German manager said: “Being away to Arsenal, it’s probably the toughest draw we could have got.

It’s a game for us to look forward to. We will go into it giving our best and trying everything we can get to get through.

Whilst The Canaries will undoubtedly start as big underdogs, Arsene Wenger has heavily rotated his side in cup competitions so far this season.

On the other hand, Farke has stuck to his word by fielding reasonably strong sides for a cup he labelled ‘high importance’.

The Yellows are sure to be backed by a large away following for the trip to the Emirates Stadium and will be hopeful of a good performance.

The Verdict

It’s a very tough draw for Norwich when you assess their chances of progressing, however, they will have nothing to lose when they play in North London.

Wenger is seemingly always under pressure now and the home fans will expect a win, even from their youthful side.

Doncaster ran Arsenal very close, so there’s no reason Norwich won’t be able to do the same.
