Norwich City boss gives update on injury-hit squad ahead of Preston clash

Norwich City manager Daniel Farke has revealed that up to seven players could be missing from his first team tomorrow when they take on Preston North End at Carrow Road.

It will be the first return for former Norwich boss Alex Neil in East Anglia but his successor Farke is having to wade through his options after suffering yet more injury blows.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, as reported by the official Twitter account of Norwich City, Daniel Farke issued an extensive injury update.

The German boss revealed that Timm Klose has suffered a muscle strain, ruling him out of the Championship clash tomorrow, with Christoph Zimmermann set to replace him in the starting line-up.

As well as Klose’s absence, Farke will have to make do without midfielder Tom Trybull but Farke hopes he will return for the game against Cardiff.

Meanwhile, defender James Husband is unavailable tomorrow and Alex Tettey’s return is likely to be postponed until after the Cardiff game.

Marley Watkins is a doubt for the game, Farke confirmed, with a hip problem, although he has trained.

Attacking midfield duo Steven Naismith and Alex Pritchard are also unavailable for tomorrow, although Farke confirms that Pritchard has been looking sharp after returning to training 8-9 days ago.

The Verdict

This is a lengthy injury list but the likes of Trybull, Tettey, Watkins, Klose and Pritchard should all be back available soon.

While Farke may struggle through the Preston challenge, Norwich will soon be back to full strength.

In the meantime, the likes of Josh Murphy and James Maddison will need to step up and shine as the standout performers.
