Daniel Farke's Norwich City side have made an impressive start to the season, but they have dealt an injury blow, with news that Louis Thompson is set to be ruled out for three months after dislocating his shoulder.

Thompson had only just recovered from a different injury setback when he came on as a late substitute in their win over Aston Villa.

But the 23-year-old only last two minutes as he suffered a shoulder injury which has subsequently ruled him out for a considerable amount of time.

Farke revealed the extent of Thompson's injury in a press-conference after their EFL Cup exit to Bournemouth on Tuesday via Chris Goreham.

'Daniel Farke has just confirmed to me that Louis Thompson needs an operation and will miss the next 3 months. Awful news for the man.'

Thompson is yet to cement a place in Daniel Farke's starting XI and has been restricted to just one start in the league this season, which will be disappointing news for the Welshman.

But the youngster will have to focus on recovering from this injury as quickly as possible if he is to have any chance of featuring and nailing down a place in Daniel Farke's promotion-chasing side this season.

Norwich will look to continue their good run of form when they face Sheffield Wednesday where they will be hoping to make it four wins in a row.

The Verdict:

This news will come as a huge blow to Norwich City fans who would have been keen to see Thompson cement a place in the starting XI this season.

Farke has already shown that he has given youngsters a chance in the side in this years campaign, so Thompson will be hoping to make a swift recovery in time for the new year.
