Having guided Northampton Town to League One survival after his appointment in January, Justin Edinburgh will use his first summer transfer window in charge of the Cobblers to really make his mark on the squad.

The former Newport boss has made an excellent start to his summer business, and has already brought Dean Bowditch, Billy Waters, Leon Barnett and George Smith to Sixfields in the past few weeks.

With further additions to the squad expected in the remaining months of the window, Edinburgh has plenty of time to put together a squad capable of not only beating the drop, but one that can push up the league table.

The Cobblers were an entertaining side last summer, with 133 goals seen in their 46 league matches, and although the club did not struggle for goals, defensively they were found wanting.

Edinburgh has already addressed this with the acquisition of Barnett and Smith, and will hope the pair will help fill the void left by 2017 Player of the Year Zander Diamond, who left to join Mansfield Town in League Two.

Edinburgh is an impressive young manager, and will prepare his squad to punch above their weight in League One next season.

With the summer window only a few days old and four names already added to the roster, Northampton fans can rest easy, and know that their beloved side's in the right hands in Justin Edinburgh.
