Sheffield United stormed back into the Championship with an opening day victory over Brentford in an excellent encounter at Bramall Lane.

The Blades were back in the second tier for the first time in six seasons, and had a tough test against the Bees.

However, Billy Sharp continued his form from last season with a header in the first half, a goal which was enough for United to take all three points and get off to the ideal start to life back in the Championship.

Brentford had their moments though, as Lasse Vibe missed a couple of sitters, while the impressive Jota was arguably the best player on the pitch.

They could not muster an equaliser though, and the Blades will be happy going away from their opening game with a 1-0 home win, giving Chris Wilder his first three points as a Championship manager.
