Birmingham City are set to be deducted nine points over the club's breaches of Financial Fair Play regulations, it has been reported.

TalkSport reported the news on Friday morning, stating that the deduction will take immediate effect, dropping the club from 13th in the Championship table with 50 points to 18th with 41 points, five points clear of the relegation zone.

After the news broke, many Birmingham fans took to Twitter to express their feelings on the reported punishment, with some concerned about what this could mean for the club's prospects this season, particularly given the run of fixtures the club face in their final eight games of the season.

Others however, were pleased with the extent of the punishment, given that it had originally been reported that the deduction handed to the club could have been as many as twelve points, and were more confident about the club's long term prospects after the deduction.
