After a bitterly disappointing campaign culminating in relegation to League Two, Bury would have been looking to get back to up to League One at the first time of asking this season.

The Shakers had endured a terrible season last time around, in a campaign which saw two managerial departures in the space of three months. Lee Clark the first to be relieved of his duties, before Chris Lucketti quickly followed suit, after less than just two months at the helm.

The Lancashire club would have known that they needed stability going forward, if they were going to mount any sort of promotion push in League Two and get back up the leagues.

Here, we take a look at the reaction when the Shakers appointed Ryan Lowe as permanent manager...

It was a decision that certainly caught the eye and split the Gigg Lane faithful right down the middle. Lowe, a former player over three different spells with the club, was appointed caretaker manager not once, but twice the season before.

Following Lucketti's departure in January, he was given the job until the end of the season, tasked with what seemed the impossible job of keeping the club away from relegation. He started off in a promising manner, losing just one of his opening eight league games in charge.

But things slowly started to go downhill once again, and they were finished bottom of League Two, 15 points adrift of safety.

Still, the former Shakers striker clearly impressed the board in some ways, enough so to be given the job of securing promotion at the first time of asking this season.

But any supporter who began to write the appointment off straight away has been made to eat their words - Lowe has been nothing short of a success since taking the reins permanently at Gigg Lane.

The 40-year old has won 26 out of 50 games in charge of the club since his appointment in May, guiding them into League Two automatic promotion spots despite recent financial problems.

He was targeted by Luton Town earlier on in the season, but thankfully for Bury, an approach failed to materialise.

He plays tremendous football on the eye which is clearly getting the best out of his players, and everyone will now know that he is the perfect man to take the club forward, after a hugely impressive tenure thus far.
