Leeds United are top of the Championship after a 2-0 victory against Huddersfield saw them leapfrog West Brom who play tomorrow.

The Whites had to really battle against their Yorkshire rivals in what was a very tight, intense first-half in particular. However, the side stood firm and their quality told in the end.

Whilst there were many good performers for the Whites, former player Noel Whelan praised the versatile Stuart Dallas for another impressive showing in midfield when speaking to Football Insider.

"He always gives you an 8/10 performance in so many different positions. He is an international player with international qualities. What a player. He’s Premier League quality as well, no doubt about that.

"He has played in so many different positions for Leeds – even this season – and never complains. His attitude and professionalism is top class. I’ve been so impressed with him this season, he’s a massive cog in the wheel."

The 28-year-old has been an ever-present under Marcelo Bielsa this season and will expect to retain his place when Leeds welcome Hull City to Elland Road on Tuesday.

The verdict

Dallas has been superb this season and he deserves so much credit because he has had to move positions but he doesn't moan, he just plays well and does what the manager asks.

So, you can't argue with what Whelan has said and Bielsa will be delighted to have a reliable professional like Dallas at his disposal.

Now, it's down to the player and his teammates to continue their fine form as they look to extend their big gap over third place.
