Noel Whelan has heaped praise on Leeds United's Stuart Dallas, following his impressive performances for both club and country so far this season.

The versatile 28-year-old has been one of the standout players for Leeds this season and has started every game in the Championship, scoring in the 3-0 win over Stoke City last month.

He has impressed for Leeds in a number of different positions so far this season, including right-back and midfield.

Dallas has also featured twice for Northern Ireland this season and impressed again during their 3-1 defeat to the Netherlands last night, setting up their equalising goal for Josh Magennis with an inch-perfect cross.

Former Leeds striker Whelan has heaped praise on Dallas for his performances so far this season and believes playing regularly for both club and country has made him a better player.

“He has become the complete right-wing back, he has the energy, the desire and the quality to get forward,” Whelan told Football Insider.

“He is showing that for Leeds this season and now internationally with Northern Ireland, everything is benefiting the player, playing week-in, week-out for Leeds and his country, and his performances have been absolutely unreal from Stuart Dallas.

“They’ve been really really top class.”

Dallas was one of a number of Leeds players to be handed a new contract recently and singed a new four-year deal, extending his stay at Elland Road until 2023.

The Verdict

Dallas has been exceptional for both club and country so far this season. He's been one of the standout players for Leeds in the Championship and his versatility makes him a very useful option for Marcelo Bielsa to have in his squad.

He's been excellent, whether playing at right-back or in midfield, and thoroughly deserved to be rewarded with his new contract.

After finding himself in and out of the team last season, a consistent run of games for club and country this season seems to have benefited him massively and he could have a very important role to play in Leeds' promotion push this season.
