Leeds United have gotten off to a superb start to life in the Championship once again.

Despite a home loss against Swansea City last weekend, the Whites still remain one of the in-form teams in the league and have already put in some superb performances to underline their status as promotion favourites once again.

One of the key men for Leeds so far this season has been summer signing Ben White, who has played every game since sealing a move from Brighton, impressing with some excellent performances along the way.

And former striker and now pundit Noel Whelan has been suitably impressed with the form of White.

“I think from the first day he walked in, from the first game I saw him play I was like ‘Wow, this kid is good,’ and you can see why Bielsa went out to get him. He’s fit in perfectly well, he seems like a good character which more to the point means he wants to learn and will learn off Marcelo Bielsa. I think it’s good for both parties." Whelan told Football Insider

White is highly thought of at the Amex Stadium and moved to Elland Road in the summer with first-team chances likely to be at a premium under new manager Graham Potter.

Whelan, who has had his say on plenty of things Leeds related of late, went on to further praise White in his comments.

“He’s been spectacular since he’s joined the club. Composure and calmness, you can see he’s going to be a really good player in the future.”

Leeds are back in action following the international break with a tricky trip to Yorkshire rivals Barnsley as they look to put to bed their defeat against Swansea.

The Verdict

White has been massively impressive and Whelan is spot on his assessment here.

There's little that he has done wrong really so far and Whelan is right, it's easy to see why Bielsa wanted him in the summer.

White is going to be crucial throughout the season and has slotted in for the now departed Pontus Jansson with considerable ease.
