Plenty of Portsmouth fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that their club will host arch-rivals Southampton in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

After knocking Birmingham City out of the competition earlier this month, Pompey claimed another Championship scalp last night as they defeated Queens Park Rangers 2-0 at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.

Following a quiet first-half, Kenny Jackett's side took the lead in 76th minute as John Marquis coolly converted from the spot after being brought down in the penalty area by Toni Leistner.

Pompey then doubled their advantage as Marcus Harness slotted past Hoops goalkeeper Liam Kelly.

Although the R's put Portsmouth under a concerted amount of pressure for the remainder of the clash, they were able to hold on to secure an impressive victory.

With Pompey now set to face Southampton in third round of the Carabao Cup next month, they could take inspiration from the most recent south coast derby in 2012.

A last-gasp equaliser from David Norris secured a dramatic point for the club who at the time were battling against relegation in Championship.

After the clash with the Saints was announced, plenty of Portsmouth fans reacted on Twitter to the draw.
