Derby County will be hoping to add to their squad during the last few days of the transfer window, as Phillip Cocu looks to continue to build on the recent momentum picked up by the Rams over the last few weeks.

The Rams are unbeaten in their last five Championship matches, which has included three home wins against Charlton Athletic, Barnsley and Hull City, while they have also knocked Premier League Crystal Palace out of the FA Cup in the third round stage over the last few weeks.

That could well prove to be vital for Phillip Cocu’s side come the end of the campaign, with Derby facing the potential reported prospect of being hit with a points deduction, meaning it is vital that the Dutchman adds to his squad to help his side continue to put points on the board.

The Rams have been guilty of being wasteful in the final third at times, and also lacking creativity especially away from home in the league, so a move to bring in another attacking player before the window shuts could be an important one for the Rams.

QUIZ: Can you name these 13 Derby County January signings?

One player who the Rams could potentially turn to is their former striker Matej Vydra, who is reportedly attracting interest from clubs in Russia ahead of the end of the window – and the 27-year-old, who has struggled to really establish himself in Burnley’s starting line-up since leaving Pride Park in the summer of 2018, could be a useful addition for a number of Championship sides.

Vydra was Derby’s top scorer in the 2017/18 season, registering an impressive tally of 21 Championship goals in 42 appearances, and the Rams have not really been able to find anyone as prolific in front of goal as the 27-year-old was that campaign since he left the club.

Derby supporters have been debating the prospect of re-signing Vydra in the Derby DNA supporters’ Facebook group, after being asked whether they would re-sign the forward if they were given the chance, with some feeling he would be the right sort of addition, and others less keen on bringing him back to the club.

Here then, we take a look at what Derby fans have been saying about Vydra…

Holly Gleeson: “Yes should never have let him go.”

Christopher Hill: “Wasted at Burnley and a very effective creative number 10 we miss that.”

Nile Biggs: “Yes.”

Jason Storey: “Is he better than we have. For me yes so, I'd bring him in. However, not going to happen as we have no money to spend and a court case to contest.”

Mike Brierley: “Vydra not for me no.”

Jane Wisher: “No wages too high.”

Mick Brown: “Emphatically No!”
