Steve Bruce's Aston Villa were credited with an interest in Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos back in October, with scouts from Villa keeping tabs on the 21-year-old.

The forward has enjoyed a fruitful spell since arriving at Ibrox, and it seems that Villa were keen on a January move for the player.

Links between Villa and Morelos have gone somewhat cold in recent weeks, but he is someone who is seemingly on the radar of Steve Bruce and Aston Villa.

Should Bruce launch a move for the Rangers star in January?

We discuss.....

Chris Gallagher

No, steer clear.

The Colombian was on fire early in the season but hasn't found the net since September which is really poor.

You have to judge him on the big games and he was very bad against Celtic and didn't step up when Rangers lost the cup semi-final to Motherwell.

He has age on his side and definitely has talent, but there's no way Villa can justify signing Morelos given his recent form as they need someone who guarantees goals.

George Dagless

Potentially.

Villa need a new forward and Morelos is the kind of person that doesn't seem to need a bedding in period.

He's adapted well at Rangers and I think he'd do a good job in helping Villa in their current striker shortage.

Adam Simeoni

The forward is scoring goals. Villa need a forward. He should come at a relatively low price.

Why not?

Perhaps some will argue he has a lot to prove, as the Scottish game is very different to English football in terms of quality, but the player could be worth a punt in the new year.

Alfie Burns

Villa undoubtedly need to strengthen the attacking area of Bruce’s squad, but signing someone like Morelos would be a risk by the Championship outfit.

Yes, the 21-year-old has scored goals this season, but whether he cut it in the Championship remains to be seen.

Villa will have to be savvy with their January business, and I can’t imagine Bruce pushing too hard to get Morelos to Villa Park.
