It’s recently been suggested by The Daily Mail that Aston Villa are among the clubs with an interest in Jack Marriott of Peterborough United.
The young forward has excelled in League One this season for the Posh and, with Villa struggling for a striker to stay fit and score goals, it is a move that might make sense.

Marriott is certainly doing the business in League One, and it is no surprise to see Championship clubs taking a look at him.
However, Villa’s supporters will be hoping for a high-profile arrival to solve their striking issues.
Mumblings of Nahki Wells or Leonardo Ulloa will please Villa’s supporters, and for me, one of that duo would be a better option than Marriott.
No, stay away Bruce!
Promotion is a must for Aston Villa and they need a proven striker to achieve that goal.
Marriott isn’t that man and whilst he could have a good Championship career, Villa need someone to come in and hit the ground running instead of taking a chance on someone.
Marriott has been scoring goals for fun with Peterborough since his move from Luton, and appears ready to make yet another step up the football pyramid.
The Posh have a history of procuring top striking talent from the lower leagues, with Dwight Gayle and Britt Assombalonga just two of the men to pass through London Road, and Marriott could be the next.
Grant McCann’s men don’t settle for minor fees however, and it could cost Villa big money to being Marriott in in the new year.
