Sheffield United have completed the loan signing of Oliver Norwood from Brighton and Hove Albion, and his arrival will undoubtedly have an impact on the Blades.

The loan deal is with a view to a permenant move that will be completed when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Lee Evans was moved out on loan to Wigan with the view that the injured Paul Coutts would be back fit again within the next six weeks.

But now Norwood has signed, there will be repercussions and impacts to the latest Chris Wilder signing.

One has already been Evans' departure.

Coutts will remain in the treatment room, and during his recovery, the former Fulham loanee could cement his place in the side and leave the injured midfielder left wanting.

If it isn’t the 30-year-old, Mark Duffy or John Lundstram could fall victim to a player who has won two successive promotions to the Premier League.

Game time could be restricted for any or all if the Northern Ireland international becomes a regular fixture in the first team.

Should the midfielder have a successful start to life at Bramall Lane, he could forge a solid partnership with John Fleck, who played a big part in the United side that won promotion to the Championship two years ago.

Coutts, once fit, could form a pairing with Norwood with the likes of Fleck, Duffy or Lundstram all dropped.

The Brighton man might even find himself out of the side once all the players are fit.

It is all conjecture at this point, but Norwood is a cut above many of Sheffield United’s current crop of midfielders, and one will fall victim, should he be successful.

The addition of the 27-year-old, on the other hand, gives Wilder more options in the middle of the park, and the Blades' boss could change his system up to suit the players he has available.

Wilder could opt for five in midfield with Norwood the more central of them, and opt for one up top, or have him in a pair sitting in front of the defence, or have him the sole holding player and add an extra man in the final third.

Norwood’s impact will give the Sheffield United boss untold options regarding tactics and personnel, but there will be several varying outcomes that will be seen as the season goes on.
