Leeds United's tough afternoon against QPR was made a lot worse when Kalvin Phillips was rightly sent off for a late challenge on Geoff Cameron.

With the dismissal coming in the 88th minute it's not as if it had a major impact on the result but the bigger problem for the Whites will be the three-game suspension Phillips now has to serve.

Given his undoubted quality, not having the defensive midfielder is a significant setback and the academy graduate appeared to realise that after the game by sending an apology out on social media.

"Sorry to the #LUFC fans for my red card yesterday. It wasn’t intentional but I timed the tackle badly. I’m a Leeds fan as well as a player so maybe a little frustration that we have all been feeling was shown but that’s never an excuse.

"Beyond gutted to miss the next 3 games, And I will make sure I do everything I can during and after my ban to make this dream for all of us come true! We stick together and we march on!"

It's fair to say that Phillips has credit in the bank with many supporters and they understood it was just a mistake on his part on what was a frustrating afternoon.
