In August 2017, Luton Town announced the arrival of midfielder Luke Berry from Cambridge United.

Berry was a home grown hero at the Abbey Stadium, but tried his luck away from Cambridge once and returned. His failed Barnsley spell might have served as a warning to him for the future, but when a chance to join Nathan Jones' side came up, he took it.

The move wasn't popular in the university city, but at Kenilworth Road the party poppers were out. Berry had been sensational for the Us the season before and was widely accepted as a great signing for the Hatters.

The messages of support were plentiful, with many predicting promotion at the end of the season. That prediction turned out to be correct, with Luton likely to seal successive promotions this weekend as they hunt a Championship spot.

Berry has spent much of this season out injured, only returning to proper action in December, but he's played a role in their push up the table. He's scored three times in 21 outings, including a winner at Bristol Rovers.

In total, he's bagged ten times for the Hatters from 47 starts and a further 14 sub appearances in all competitions. He now faces a battle to keep his place as they move up a level and undoubtedly recruit more experienced players for their new challenges.

Still, fans were certainly right to predict success after he joined their League Two side in August 2017, even if he hasn't been a key player in their ascent.
