It's fair to say that it has been a turbulent season for Derby County midfielder Tom Lawrence, for reasons both on and off the pitch.

The 26-year-old was embroiled in hugely controversial events off the pitch when he was arrested and charged with drink-driving, following a road collision which sidelined Richard Keogh for up to 15 months.

Keogh has since been sacked by the club, whilst Lawrence and teammate, Mason Bennett, have tried their best to make amends on the pitch.

But Lawrence's performances have flattered to deceive this season - the Wales international has scored five goals and added two assists this season, but he often fails to leave his mark on games and goes missing.

He looks a shadow of the player that inspired Derby to a 2-1 away win against Huddersfield on the opening day of the campaign, and has been in and out of the team under Phillip Cocu.

An interesting statistic has emerged on social media lately, which takes a look at the impact Lawrence has had for Derby this season.

Via Tom Thorogood on Twitter, Lawrence has started 23 out of 27 Championship games this season, and in the games he hasn't played in, Derby have picked up 10 points.

In short, with Tom Lawrence in the team, they have picked up an average of 1.043 points per game this term - without him, they have picked up 2.5 points per game.

This has amplified cries from Derby fans calling for Lawrence to be dropped from the side, with many having already lost patience with the winger after a series of below-par displays.
