According to reputable journalist Alan Nixon, Premier League side Burnley are set to pull out all the stops in their hopes of signing Leeds United's midfield ace Kalvin Phillips.

The midfielder put in a hugely impressive performance for the Whites as they beat Bristol City at the weekend, giving everybody a reminder of his class and why he is so important to Marcelo Bielsa's side going forward.

But now, it is claimed that Sean Dyche's side have offered cash plus Matej Vydra for Phillips' services - an offer that has been turned down initially, but the Clarets are expected to return with a new offer sooner rather than later.

Phillips is currently facing a somewhat uncertain future at Elland Road, with multiple reports linking him with a move to Aston Villa after reportedly turning down the option of a new deal at the Yorkshire club.

Vydra, on the other hand, was in fact linked with a move to Leeds last summer after scoring 21 league goals for Derby in the Championship, before the attacker signed for Burnley.

The Czech Republic forward has since failed to make an impact at Turf Moor, with the 27-year-old making just three Premier League starts last term.
