Leeds United have opened talks with Huddersfield Town over signing midfielder Lewis O'Brien, according to Football Insider.

O'Brien has been a key player for the Terriers over the last couple of years, and really came to the fore under Carlos Corberan last term.

The energetic midfielder made 42 appearances in the Championship last season, scoring three goals and chipping in with as many assists.

The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the 2021/22 season, however Town do have the option to extend that deal by a further year.

But O'Brien is attracting interest from Leeds United, as Marcelo Bielsa looks to add more depth and creativity to his midfield.

The Whites look set to miss out on Chelsea's Conor Gallagher to Crystal Palace, with their attention now turning to O'Brien. According to Football Insider, Leeds have opened talks with the Terriers over a potential deal.

Corberan will be looking to keep the core of his squad together ahead of next season, having had to deal with a host of injury problems last term.

O'Brien has established himself as a key cog in the Terriers' midfield, but his contract situation makes it an interesting dilemma for the club.
