Many Charlton Athletic fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that the club are leading the race to sign outgoing Cambridge United striker Paul Mullin this summer.
As reported earlier today by Football Insider, the Addicks have moved into pole position to acquire the prolific marksman this summer after it was announced that he would be departing the Abbey Stadium.
Mullin was a talismanic figure for Cambridge last term as his 33 goals in all competitions helped them to secure promotion to Sky Bet League One against the odds.
Now it appears that a move to the Valley could beckon if Nigel Adkins and co win the race for his signature.
Naturally the news on Mullin didn’t take long to reach the Charlton faithful, with many taking to social media to air their views on the matter in hand.
Quiz: What was the score the last time Charlton Athletic played each of these 25 teams?
Here, we take a look at some of the best responses from the supporters on Twitter.
A risk but one worth taking in my opinion. He's not old, 26, he's coming into his prime. Lyle Taylor's record wasn't any better when he came to us. If Gallen likes him, sign him up!

That will be a good signing if Macca can score 11 goals in the Championship from non league then Mullin can do the same a in League 1. Hopefully Dobson signs soon as well.

For me, I would rather we go for someone faster and younger…. just for me, it's not my money after all.

Great signing banged in double the amount of any of our strikers last year 👌🏼

Thought Cawley said we weren’t interested… strange one though he hadn’t done anything really up until last season, scored more than a goal a game! Think he would be back up to stockley in my opinion, doesn’t look the quickest from what I’ve seen! Worth a gamble as a free tbh

Anytime you can pick up a striker that’s just scored 30+ goals in a season on a free it’s a no brainer, we’ve picked gems and flops from leagues below before but this definitely warrants a shot #cafc https://t.co/5d5Xrqay3Y

Normally a pretty reliable source, we are reportedly looking at Cambridge striker Paul Mullin.
