Derby County traditionally fall apart on the pitch in February and March time and the 2017/18 campaign isn't proving to be an exception for the East Midlands-based club.

The Rams were second just a month or so ago but a run of seven games without securing a victory has threatened to derail their promotion bid altogether, with a top six spot now looking in serious jeopardy too.

Boss Gary Rowett said after a 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest last weekend that every game from here on in would be massive for the Rams and he isn't wrong. Derby must start winning games, starting with tomorrow's encounter with high-flying Cardiff City.

Whether the club go on to secure a place in the Premier League or not next season remains to be seen and the next couple of months are bound to be interesting for supporters of Derby.

FLW writer Lee Clarke looks at two things that Gary Rowett must do to ensure the club are in better shape next season...

The Rams boast a plethora of talent in the middle of the park but one alarming aspect to the midfield at Pride Park is the lack of goals contributed this season.

Bradley Johnson, Joe Ledley and Tom Huddlestone boast just seven goals between them this season and if the club are to progress during 2018/19 then Rowett would be wise to bolster his squad with the signing of a goalscoring midfielder.

One criticism that some Rams supporters have stated is how far down the pecking order some of the club's youth team players seem to be and Rowett might be wise to try and change that.

The club does still have a bit of deadwood at the club who are probably on big wages from past regimes and the Rams' boss could look to offload some of that during the summer, placing more emphasis on some of the club's academy graduates replacing them in the squad.
